PAN-OS® 8.0 is here! Palo Alto Networks launched the new PAN-OS® 8.0 in February, and it’s packed with exciting new features. Fuel volunteers Jason, Steinar and Eugene were invited to beta test PAN-OS® 8.0 and share their feedback.
Here’s what they had to say:
On PAN-OS® 8.0 enhancing the user experience:
Steinar enjoyed a better overall performance, while Jason touted its new Panorama features.
Eugene said that Palo Alto Networks added additional features that are easy to implement, while improving others that all organizations should be using to help protect themselves or their clients better and more effectively.
On their favorite PAN-OS® 8.0 features:
Jason: Administrator-Level Commit and Revert — this directly impacts enterprises with multiple administrators.
Steinar: Its Content Inspection Features, specifically credential phishing prevention, and sharing of Indicators of Compromise (IOC) intelligence.
Eugene: Support Elliptical Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) SSL forward proxy decryption. A large proportion of our traffic is over SSL, and we decrypt and inspect most of the traffic leaving and coming into the network to ensure it’s clean and that confidential information that is not meant to leave our network, is not leaving the network. We’re finding more and more sites using ECDSA only over RSA for the signature algorithm.
On highlights around new PAN-OS® 8.0 appliances, in terms of performance, business size or improved performance:
Jason: The new platforms are very exciting — decreased costs with greater speeds.
Steinar: New, and better, overall metrics and price points.
Eugene: Cost of bandwidth is reducing and, therefore, its consumption is increasing. [This means that] companies can afford faster internet connections, therefore, protecting these connections without limiting speed is important.
