Early firewalls were created as a response to growing computer security concerns and were inspired by actual, physical firewalls that were built to keep fires from spreading. The concept of the firewall has changed significantly in its 30+ years of existence. Here we take a look at its evolution up to present day.
As cybersecurity threats continue to evolve, what does the future of next-generation firewalls look like? For some organizations, this means adopting a Zero Trust architecture, tighter integration with identity providers to help with account compromises, or integration with security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) platforms to help increase automation.
